Ash Creek Campground

Located approximately 7 miles east of Adin, this is one of the most popular campgrounds in Kansas. The Ash Creek Campground is open year-round and has plenty for everyone to do but the water systems shut down in October. There are 40 sites at the campgrounds but also several group areas that can be rented out with separate facilities including grills, tables, and restrooms. The most popular activities at the campgrounds are fishing, hiking, and bird watching. Water and garbage service are not provided.

Urich Lake

This is one of the lesser known camping locations in Kansas but it’s just as great as some of the other bigger ones. The Urich Campground has nine sites that are completely wooded with trees, perfect for setting up a hammock or hanging a lantern from a low-hanging branch. There is also fishing available at this location as well as hiking and biking trails. The campgrounds are definitely secluded and quiet, perfect for those who like to get away from it all and commune with nature and themselves.

Tuttle Creek State Park

This state park has several campgrounds, making it one of the best places to camp in Kansas. The Tuttle Creek State Park campsites all have water and electric hookups plus free firewood for each site. There are also restrooms and showers available at most of the campgrounds along with a dump station and sewage disposal facilities. The most popular activities at this state park include water sports, camping, hunting, hiking, biking, and fishing.

Cedar Bluff

This is one of the most popular camping destinations in Kansas because it is located just outside of Wichita which makes getting there very easy for anyone who lives nearby. The 455 acres surrounding this campground have many features that are perfect for families to enjoy including a water park, supervised swimming area, and a large playground. There is also plenty of open space for games and sports as well as a scenic beach on Cedar Bluff Lake.

Parkville

This campground has 47 RV sites with full hookups plus ten tent sites that have electric outlets. The Parkville Campgrounds also have several amenities for those who want to stay a few days including laundry facilities, restrooms with showers, and free cable TV. There is also plenty of space at this location for those who like to park an RV and set up camp for the weekend as well as access to fishing ponds and recreational areas where people can hike or just enjoy some time outdoors.

Clinton State Park

This is one of the nice campgrounds in Kansas because it’s on the edge of a giant lake, Clinton Lake, which means there are plenty of activities to keep campers busy. The Clinton State Park has several amenities including boat rentals, campsites with full hookups, restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and free firewood for each site. The most popular activities at the campgrounds are hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, boating, and wildlife watching.

Fall River State Park

The campgrounds at this state park are very secluded and wooded, perfect for a nice camping trip with a group of friends or family. There are 120 campsites all together but many people prefer to rent one of the four cabins available as well as the ten cottages that have electricity and heat. The most popular activities at this state park are biking, hiking, fishing, boating, and wildlife watching. The Fall River State Park also has a large multi-purpose trail that is great for families to spend some time outdoors.

Clinton Lake

Clinton Lake is known as one of the best places to camp in Kansas because it’s located just outside of Lawrence making it convenient to get to from almost anywhere in the state. There are three main campgrounds at Clinton Lake and all of them offer restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, free firewood for each site, swimming areas, boat rentals, and many other amenities. The most popular activities at this lake are fishing, boating (including water skiing), hiking (there is a ten-mile multi-purpose trail available as well as several shorter trails throughout the park), wildlife watching, and camping.

Council Grove Lake

The Council Grove group of lakes is one of the largest in Kansas so there are plenty of campgrounds to choose from when planning a trip here. There are more than 5000 acres of water at this location making it fun for boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and all other water activities. There are also three main campgrounds at Council Grove Lake that have more than 300 campsites available as well as several smaller sites scattered around the park for those who want to get away from larger groups. The most popular activities at this location include fishing, swimming, boating, hiking (there is a 10+ mile trail that is popular with mountain bikers), and wildlife watching.

Horsethief Canyon

This beautiful state park has a large creek running through the middle which gives campers plenty to look at while they are outside enjoying themselves. There are 94 campsites available including six cabins for those who want a more permanent place to stay. Horsethief Canyon State Park has many entertainment opportunities including a playground, boat rentals, fishing ponds, and a wonderful multi-purpose trail that is great for hiking or biking. This location also offers restrooms with showers as well as access to several other trails throughout the state park system.
